Circle K is looking for an experienced and driven Manager Indirect Tax to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the effective management of VAT and Excise Duty processes across our business units, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and timely reporting. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining strategic oversight with operational execution.

MANAGER INDIRECT TAX

Type of Employment: Permanent

Location: Riga, Latvia 

Visa requirements: A valid work permit from the EU/EEA (relocation assistance is not provided) 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the indirect tax accounting team;

  • Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely submission of all VAT and Excise Duty declarations;

  • Support tax audits and handle inquiries from governmental authorities;

  • Develop and maintain internal accounting procedures related to indirect tax;

  • Supervise ERP VAT master data maintained by the indirect tax team;

  • Ensure compliance with Internal control requirements related to indirect tax;

  • Act as a subject matter expert for VAT and Excise Duty, supporting internal teams and stakeholders;

  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks related to VAT and Excise Duty;

  • Monitor changes in EU and local VAT/Excise legislation and implement updates into internal processes;

  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field;

  • Indirect tax certifications or qualifications are an advantage;

  • At least 5 years of experience in VAT and Excise Duty accounting and reporting, preferably in the retail sector;

  • Solid understanding of international VAT/Excise Duty regulations and reporting requirements;

  • Proven experience with process improvement and change management;

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with JD Edwards is a plus;

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and effectively;

  • Excellent leadership and talent development capabilities;

  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and solution-focused mindset;

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, tech-driven environment.
