Legal Counsel

Our client, a well-established global Payment Service Provider, is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their growing team. The company delivers scalable, secure, and high-performance online payment solutions to e-commerce businesses worldwide. With over 15 years of success, a skilled technology-driven team of 20+ professionals, and advanced integrations including Payment Cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Open Banking, and other Alternative Payment Methods, they have earned a strong reputation as a trusted partner for merchants seeking innovative and reliable payment services.

Responsibilities:

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.

Build and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, and playbooks; standardize terms to speed time-to-sign while protecting risk posture.

Advise business leaders on international commercial, regulatory and other legal issues.

Support go-to-market activities: review marketing/website copy, promotional campaigns, and partnership propositions for legal risk.

Manage external counsel efficiently for niche jurisdictional questions; control legal spend and scope.

Resolve contract disputes and escalate risk with clear memos, options, and recommended positions for executives.

Requirements:

3+ years of experience in financial services law, ideally within payments industry (for the e-commerce businesses).

Proven track record drafting from scratch and closing complex B2B agreements under time pressure.

Strong knowledge of EU commercial law and data protection (GDPR); familiarity with payments/e-money/PSP frameworks is a plus.

Excellent negotiation skills with a pragmatic, business-first approach.

Fluency in English and Russian (written and spoken) at an advanced/professional level.

University degree in Law. Additional certifications are advantageous.
