Medical Director, Baltic AreaAbout This Position

You will occupy a unique and pivotal role within the Medical Affairs team in the Nordic & Baltic cluster. You will be responsible for crafting the strategic direction of medical affairs, supporting clinical trial development, Real World Evidence Projects, Medical Compliance, and field medical engagements for Biogen products.

This position allows you to exercise your expertise as you build and maintain crucial relationships within the healthcare community, payer bodies, medical experts and patient organizations in the Baltic region. As the sole person in charge of the medical affairs function in the Baltics, you will contribute significantly to the department by driving the medical strategy and fitting into the overall business structure by reporting to the Head of Medical Nordic & Baltic Cluster.

Your insights and strategic vision will be instrumental in the design and implementation of our market strategy, reflecting the unique value you bring to the business.

This role will require your strategic expertise, scientific knowledge, leadership and business acumen to drive Biogen's mission forward, making a significant impact on the lives of patients and the healthcare community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a strong scientific reputation for Biogen within the Baltic healthcare community.
  • Establish and nurture scientific partnerships with key medical experts in alignment with Biogen's strategic goals.
  • Lead the development and execution of the local medical affairs plan in partnership with Biogen business partners and the cross-functional teams.
  • Manage the medical budget for the Baltic countries and provide input into the overall affiliate budgeting and planning process.
  • Act as the key expert for the Baltic region contributing to the company strategy and operational plan.
  • Provide local expertise to support R&D projects and the registration of new products.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal guidelines for medical activities.
  • Cultivate strong peer relationships with top-tier thought leaders and healthcare professionals.
  • Strategize and oversee local medical projects and the associated operational expenses.
Qualifications and Skills

You are a visionary, adept at navigating the complexities of the medical field. You possess a collaborative spirit, thriving in environments where you can build enduring relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders. Your background has armed you with a profound understanding of the healthcare system in the Baltic Region and a strategic mindset.

A minimum of 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required, along with comprehensive knowledge of the local healthcare system, market dynamics, and regulations. A strategic approach to scientific communication programs and leadership capabilities are also essential.

  • MD degree or other relevant university degree (PhD preferred but not a requirement).
  • Fluency in English and one Baltic language.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the local healthcare system, market dynamics, and regulations.
  • A strategic approach to scientific communication programs and leadership capabilities.
  • Project management and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of drug development, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and local regulations.
  • Experience with clinical trials, Real World Evidence and disease registries.
  • Involvement in reimbursement applications and engaging with relevant authorities
  • Excellent presentation skills.
